Artist's Description
The Book of Drips was made as a prop for Curiosity, a show at the VASA Gallery in St Albert, Canada. (Runs until November 29th, 2013). It is an interactive piece to demonstrate my use of studio debris which I use for paintings in my Outtakes Series. Visitors were invited to create their own painting and take photos with their phones. It's my own version of the zen garden; the tactile drips can be placed on the 6"x6" cradled board found in the "book box."
About Madeleine Arnett
My technique of pouring and mixing paint directly on a canvas is a way of connecting with the essence of fluidity. My work is part artistic vision and part serendipity, a fusion of forethought and randomness. I carefully capture any paint or resin which has overflowed and pooled beneath my boards and canvas and upcycle them into new 3D sculptural paintings.
