Surface 5 is part of my Redux Series in which I paint over earlier works. The original, Algae Waterfall had a highly textured surface, which is all that remains of the original green painting; the texture affected the flow of paint for a very unusual pattern.

My technique of pouring and mixing paint directly on a canvas is a way of connecting with the essence of fluidity. My work is part artistic vision and part serendipity, a fusion of forethought and randomness. I carefully capture any paint or resin which has overflowed and pooled beneath my boards and canvas and upcycle them into new 3D sculptural paintings.
