Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. "Caliente Octlantis" is not only a fusion of painting and sculpture, but a fusion of subject matter; the Great Pacific Garbage patch, floating islands of plastic and the underwater city or garden that the Gloomy Octopus would build if using my studio debris instead of shells or meal scraps.
About Madeleine Arnett
My technique of pouring and mixing paint directly on a canvas is a way of connecting with the essence of fluidity. My work is part artistic vision and part serendipity, a fusion of forethought and randomness. I carefully capture any paint or resin which has overflowed and pooled beneath my boards and canvas and upcycle them into new 3D sculptural paintings.
