"Trophy Fish Oceans of Plastic" is made from the acrylic paint that drips off my large fluid abstract paintings. Some of these drips, especially the larger ones I make into 3D paintings that are a cross between painting and sculpture but the leftover "paint scraps" I use in my Oceans of Plastic Series.
My technique of pouring and mixing paint directly on a canvas is a way of connecting with the essence of fluidity. My work is part artistic vision and part serendipity, a fusion of forethought and randomness. I carefully capture any paint or resin which has overflowed and pooled beneath my boards and canvas and upcycle them into new 3D sculptural paintings.
