Artist's Description

In my studio, you'll likely find me working on a new fluid abstract painting ; but occasionally I like to mix things up by painting portraits. I usually first create a textured and colored background and paint the portrait directly with a palette knife or color shaper. "Crazy Eyes" starting out differently...no underpainting and a quick sketch. I liked the unfinished look so decided to not to develop it further.

About Madeleine Arnett

Madeleine Arnett

My technique of pouring and mixing paint directly on a canvas is a way of connecting with the essence of fluidity. My work is part artistic vision and part serendipity, a fusion of forethought and randomness. I carefully capture any paint or resin which has overflowed and pooled beneath my boards and canvas and upcycle them into new 3D sculptural paintings.
